CES: Toshiba smart TVs to integrate Samba, close gap between linear TV and the web

samba_logo5Last year at CES, Samba TV demonstrated its new platform, which automatically syncs with live TV shows, and serves as a recommendation engine for related online videos and other relevant shows. At CES 2014, Samba TV has announced that its technology will be integrated into Toshiba smart TVs. New Toshiba owners will be able to use their remotes, tablets, phones, or computers to browse apps, gain access to exclusive content, and share clips with friends via Facebook and Twitter via their TVs. CES: Cisco and Innovid partner to bring real-time contextual advertising to the second screen

timthumbAt CES this year, two very different companies – Innovid and Cisco – will unveil a powerful solution for advertisers: second screen advertising based on relevant keywords spoken in television shows. Innovid, a company founded in 2007, has been providing video advertising solutions to markers through its own ad network. Cisco’s contribution to the partnership will be via Contexta, the company’s cloud-based system that analyzes television content in real-time and generates metadata based on the analysis. Read more

When the Roku player launched in 2008, it was the first product to stream Netflix to the TV, and that was its only channel. Fast forward to CES 2013, where Roku announced that they surpassed 700 channels on the platform, including channels from FlingoVEVO, and Spotify. Read more
