At 11:18, after some magical swipes by CNN’s John King on their magical election wall, the network declared the President Obama had won the electoral votes he needed to get re-elected. Fox News and Twitter team up to report on election night

On November 1st, Twitter launched a new political engagement map, which they described here. Viewers using Peel app predict Obama will top election

During the debates, Peel’s app enabled viewers with Samsung tablets to “cheer” and “boo” in real-time with the candidates. Peel said it reported 1.5 million interactions during the debates — 4,200 per minute — with Obama scoring 2.4 cheers for each boo and Romney coming out even. The app also polled viewers on their intended votes, divided down by state, and Obama came away with 285 electoral votes (with three undecided states) for the win.

Trendrr has made a big announcement today, one that is sure to help their services grow in the long term. The social TV analytics company has announced that “the United States Patent and Trademark Office has awarded the company U.S. Patent No. 8,271,429, which protects the data collection and web-based display methods.” Their release goes onto explain that “the patent, entitled ‘System and method for collecting and processing data,’ protects Trendrr’s intuitive, turnkey enterprise technology solution, which solves the problem of processing, understanding and leveraging social data around television.” We spoke with CEO Mark Ghuneim about what this means for his company and about the unique ways they tracked the debates by looking at attribution by network. continued…
