Facebook: referrals to media sites up 100%

In a blog post today, Facebook’s Justin Osofsky says the average media site over the last year has experienced a jump of 100% or more in Facebook referrals. “From social plugins to deeper Graph API implementations, we have worked with digital content providers who are focused on driving traffic and deepening engagement with their content,” he says.

One of the examples Osofsky provides is WashingtonPost.com, which recently integrated Facebook with “Network News,” a home page widget that shows the latest recommendations from a user’s Facebook friends. “The Washington Post has seen more than 280% increase in referral traffic year-over-year,” Osofsky says.

Facebook has been ramping up its partner team, reports All Things D, in a focus to drive more integration with major media sites.
