For fans who’ve stuck with CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother” for 10 seasons, the show’s series finale can’t come soon enough.
Co-creator Carter Bays tweeted out a screen shot of his computer screen featuring the script for the finale…that was written back in 2006.
Writing finale. Found this doc on my computer. Look @ the date. No memory of writing it. Wish I could show the rest! pic.twitter.com/cVHcW2ik6h

The whole premise of the show is the finale, so it isn’t surprising that the creators started writing it a long time ago, but this tweet reveals the co-creator had a finale in mind less than six months after “HIMYM” premiered back in 2005.
Bays’ sharing of a nostalgic nugget of behind-the-scenes history via social media is a treat for fans, and continues a trend of top shows engaging fans on the making of their favorite shows through social.
