Yahoo’s IntoNow is working with ABC to offer a second-screen sweepstakes around the final two episodes this season of the show Revenge. Viewers who tag either show (on May 16th or 23rd) from the app can enter to win a vacation in the Hamptons “and live the life of a Grayson for a week.” While they’re there, viewers can see Revenge trivia, engage in conversations with friends and share what they’re watching to their Facebook and Twitter feeds.
With IntoNow, you have to been watching to participate — no faking it — due to IntoNow’s audio recognition technology. You may remember last year when IntoNow gave away free Pepsi Max drinks to viewers who tagged MLB games, and today’s sweepstakes is a natural next step to reward viewers for watching linear TV.
In fact, viewer rewards are spreading quickly throughout the second-screen universe, from loyalty programs (like Viggle and now ACTV8.me) and digital downloads (Shazam) to shopping discounts (CW and Shopkick). And you expect that contests and sweepstakes will become increasingly commonplace.
By the way, it’s safe to say we can expect more collaboration between IntoNow and ABC. Earlier this year, ABC partnered with IntoNow for the Republican presidential candidate debate, and Yahoo News has partnered across the board with ABC News.
