Late Night Hosts Continue to Impress in This Week’s Top 5 Viral TV Clips

5by_mobile_app_screenshot_304x200In this Friday’s installment of our partnership with 5by, the video discovery platform that curates the web’s best viral videos, we take a look at the top five videos of the week from the platform’s TV category.

Trending this week is Conan O’Brien getting his hair done by ‘Orange is the New Black’ star Laverne Cox and John Oliver taking on the ubiquity of native advertising. For more on the videos selected, Theo Tabah, 5by’s Head of Content:

TV clips tend to go viral when they capture moments from the absurd to unexpected to borderline terrifying, and this week’s top videos have managed to meet all three criteria–plus they’re hysterical, adding another incentive to share online.

Some MVPs of late night for this round include Jimmy Kimmel - who continues his epic bit “Words From Your Mother” by inviting rapper Tyga’s mom to read the lyrics from her son’s raunchy hit “Rack City” - and Conan O’Brien, who allows ”Orange is the New Black” beauty queen, Laverne Cox, to do his hair (we’ve seen that anything “OITNB”-related is guaranteed to get some social buzz). Once again, John Oliver kills it with a comedically accurate rant criticizing advertising, spurring lots of chatter among the media industry.

The humor continues with funny man and social media savant Aziz Ansari revealing some absolutely ridiculous business ideas on ”Parks and Recreation,” followed by roller skating superstar Juan Carlos strutting his stuff to Madonna’s “Vogue” on “America’s Got Talent.”
