Oscars Live Blog: Ellen Rules Twitter, Photobombing Run Amok, Social Love for Acceptance Speeches

Social media will be active throughout the 86th annual Academy Awards tonight, and Lost Remote will be reporting the top moments and images as they happen.

Pre-show Red Carpet

Co-host of  ABC’s “Oscars Red Carper Live” Lara Spencer had fun with rehearsals.

And her co-host Robin Roberts commented on Lara’s apparent wardrobe malfunction.

“Live with Kelly and Michael’s” dynamic duo on the red carpet.

ABC just introduced the first #MyOscarPhoto, which takes images submitted from twitter users and places them next to celebrities for a closeup. ABC will then tweet them back to the lucky Twitter winners. The first one had a lucky winner with “Oscars Red Carpet Live” co-host Tyson Beckford.

Lead Actress nominee Meryl Streep gets a roaring red carpet welcome:

Jimmy Kimmel popped on stage with Lara Spencer dressed pretty casually, telling Lara of the viciousness on social media.

He then left Lara to travel through one American couple’s television, reading them the riot act over their tweets. “Alright, which one of you tweeted give Jennifer Lawrence an Oscar for least supportive bra, or I’ll fire your stylist,” Kimmel asked the couple. The female viewer eating Cheetos fessed up, raising her hands up toward the “Mani-Cam.”

86th annual Academy Awards

Jared Leto was the night’s first winner for Best Supporting Actor (Dallas Buyers Club), hugging his date for the evening: mom. Leto’s poignant acceptance speech thanked his mother by telling her story, as well as dedicating his award to all those who’ve felt injustice for their sexual orientation.

Pharell brought the stars out of their seats during his “Happy” performance.
Sally Field‘s introduction of a historic movie montage generated positive social reaction.

Host Ellen DeGeneres is busy taking selfies with the stars backstage, and taking pizza orders in the crowd (much to the delight of a pregnant “Scandal” star Kerry Washington).

Selfies at its best (and Kevin Spacey photo bombing). **As of 10:45pm, the Ellen selfie tweet has over 915,000 retweets, which has smashed the former retweet world record held by President Obama (his four more years tweet after winning the 2012 election).

>Update: At 11:30am the morning after, the tweet has 2,705,000 retweets.

Lupita Nyong’o winning Best Supporting Actress for “12 Years a Slave” made #Lupita a top trender on twitter:

Matthew McConaughey‘s victory for Best Actor (Dallas Buyers Club) speech lit Twitter on fire.

“12 Years a Slave” took home Best Picture honors:
