MTV teams up with IntoNow for 'Jershey Shore'

We wrote about IntoNow a few weeks ago — a new mobile app that literally listens to your TV and “tags” the show you’re watching with remarkable accuracy, live or recorded.

Now IntoNow has teamed up with MTV, its first media partner, with a contest around the TV show Jersey Shore. Here’s how it works: tag six airings of the show this season, and you’ll be entered for a chance to win a trip to the season four premiere. But not just recorded airings — you have to tag “six premiere airings in their market” to qualify. IntoNow lists the broadcast times on this promotional page.

“MTV came up with a great idea, and we’re really into being able to offer viewers new ways to interact with their favorite shows,” said Adam Cahan, founder and CEO of IntoNow. “This is just the beginning of what we want to be able to offer our users.”

IntoNow is the first check-in-style app that uses SoundPrint technology to identify the show you’re watching. That means you can’t fake a TV check in, opening up unique opportunities for media collaborations and contests designed around live TV viewing.

MTV is also working with IntoNow with the show My Life as Liz. The star, Liz Lee, is powering IntoNow’s “discover” tab by listing her favorite TV shows (above). In a way, this is like iTunes’ playlists curated by musicians, but for TV.

“We’re excited to be the first media company to partner with IntoNow,” said Michael Scogin, vice president of mobile for MTV. “This collaboration carries on MTV’s tradition of bringing our fans closer to the stars of their favorite shows.”
