NBA Finals win triggers social media avalanche (infographic)

Lebron’s dream of a NBA championship became reality last night, and the social media world exploded. According to Bluefin Labs, the final game triggered an avalanche of 6.31 million social media comments, the third-highest number in TV history behind the Super Bowl and the Grammy’s.

All together, the NBA Finals reinforced how sports and social media — amplified by TV — are inexorably connected. Just when you think the NBA is slipping from view in the US sports scene, it comes roaring back, illustrating its relevancy in a game-by-game display of social splendor.
