Supernatural and Vampire Female Social TV Community Fueling Insticator’s Growth

InsticatorInsticator, a TV fan prediction company, is seeing a large spike in usage from an unlikely audience: vampire and supernatural fans.

In just 10 days, the platform has grown from 4,000 active users in this segment to over 22,000. Insticator runs contests with trivia and predictions and these specific communities are very passionate about what is going to happen within the plot and to characters. Among the shows whose communities are engaging are ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ ‘The Originals,’ ‘Supernatural,’ Teen Wolf,’ and ‘Once Upon a Time.

The hyper-social 16-35 female viewer is highly engaged and opinionated and certain shows are capitalizing on that audience.  Insticator broke its user base into two cohorts for the sake of this study and found some interesting data points.

The average Insticator user comes and weighs in on eight trivia questions and predictions in one session. The average “vampire/supernatural fan”  shows counted in this cohort  weigh in on 25 trivia questions and predictions in one setting and are seven times more likely to tweet about the show predictions or favorite one of Insticator’s tweets related to their show. They are also three times more likely to comment and follow other fans in the platform that watch that show.

The socially engaged female viewer is changing the landscape for advertising dollars for networks.  When there’s a “vampire/supernatural” convention taking place, Insticator sees an increase in retweets per day in the 2,000-4,000 range. For the young company, this has all occurred in the last two weeks, and last week had 26,000 positions in one day with a “vampire/supernaturals” contest.
