TLC Reveals Cast of ‘Next Great Baker’ on Snapchat

The-Next-Great-BakerTLC on Wednesday announced the return of ‘Next Great Baker,’ which premieres June 24th at 9/8c.

The network generally reveals which contestants will compete for a spot in Carlo’s Bakery via a press release, but for season four they gave fans an exclusive first look at the cast via their recently launched TLC_Network account on Snapchat. TLC already used the platform to reveal on-set selfless of each of this season’s competitors.

For reality shows with ever-changing casts Snapchat is perhaps the best platform to build buzz and introduce fans to new contestants. In January, we wrote about HBO’s Girls snapchatting from its red carpet premiere, and we have since been expecting more social TV marketers to leverage the platform creatively. Read more

“You know, I never cheated on your mother,” a father tells his son while watching a scene from “True Detective.” The scene shows Woody Harrelson giving a gift to the woman he is cheating on his wife with. “Not that I never had opportunities.”

“Alright dad, please…” the uncomfortable son responds.

How HBO's 'Girls' premiered on social TV [Infographic]

After hearing endlessly over the last few months how amazing HBO's 'Girls' would be, I was a bit skeptical if it would be able to live up to that buzz. Most of Judd Apatow's (the EP for the show) successes have come after they've left the public eye and entered the cult following that now emerges on the social web. After hearing creator, director and star of the show, 25-year-old Lena Dunham speak about social at SXSW, I was convinced it would live up to the buzz. The show has now premiered and the social web agrees. Trendrr put together an infographic to illustrate the activity...

SXSW: HBO 'Girls' creator Lena Dunham on how Twitter has affected her creative process

The talk of the town at this year's SXSW Interactive was that the "social media bubble" was here. I even sat on a panel on just that topic. There were endless registration lines, long waits to packed panel sessions and millions of trees worth of one-sheets on new social media platforms flying through the air. SXSW Film was also underway, where tons of TV writers, creators, directors, producers and actors had all come to talk about their new projects. While I'm not sure if these TV folks have heard of GetGlue or Miso yet, many of them have built a powerful presence on Twitter.
