USA Network’s ‘SVU: No More Excuses’ Marathon a Social and Ratings Success

Lawandorder02Last week we wrote about USA Network’s 16-hour Law & Order: Special Victims Unit marathon in partnership with Mariska Hargitay’s Joyful Heart Foundation and the NO MORE campaign.  The marathon took place on Sunday and the episodes centered on domestic violence cases. PSAs featuring series stars Hargitay, Ice-T, Danny Pino and Kelli Giddish saying “NO MORE” to domestic violence and sexual assault were played throughout the marathon.

The night proved to be a big success, both ratings-wise and across social media. The episodes that aired between 7-11pm, compared to episodes in the same timeslot last year, delivered double-digit ratings increases across the board with an average of 2.6M total viewers.

In the lead up to the marathon, and on the day of, USA, the Joyful Heart Foundation, and NO MORE leveraged social media to get out the message about preventing domestic and sexual violence. The hashtags #sayNOMORE, #NOMORE and #NOMOREexcuses trended nationally. Read more

USA Network Getting Social for ‘SVU: No More Excuses’ Marathon

As one of TV’s longest running shows, “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” is still getting creative; this weekend its leveraging social media to spread an important message.

On Sunday at 10amET, a special 16-hour “No More Excuses” marathon of “SVU” episodes will air on USA Network in partnership with show star Mariska Hargitay‘s Joyful Heart foundation. The episodes will revolve around domestic violence, and show stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, Danny Pino and Kelly Giddish will all appear for special messages throughout the marathon.

For the promotional marathon, the network will use the hashtag #sayNOMore, which they will promote on their website. The network has also been promoting the marathon via Twitter.

NBC Crime Dramas Promoting Crossover Event on Social

SVU Chicago PDNBC crime dramas “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Chicago P.D.” are partnering for a two-hour crossover event airing Wednesday, February 26 at 9pmET.

“A case so big, it needs two teams to solve it,” the teaser for the episode says, with the New York-based “SVU” crew heading to Chicago to enlist the help of the “Chicago P.D” crew.

And both shows are also active on social, tweeting out promo announcements for the crossover event—and retweeting each others tweets—while SVU’s social channels are spreading some behind-the-scenes photos from the episode’s filming. Read more
