Nielsen acquires social TV tracker SocialGuide

Nielsen and NM Insight, a joint venture between Nielsen and McKinsey and Company, has acquired social TV tracking firm SocialGuide. Terms of the agreement were not immediately available. Brooklyn-based SocialGuide has focused a substantial amount of its efforts on Twitter, which has become the de facto home for real-time conversation surrounding television. SocialGuide’s platform tracks conversations around more than 30,000 programs, across 232 English and Spanish-language channels.

SocialGuide and Univision launch Spanish-language analytics

SocialGuide and Univision have announced that they will be joining arms to leverage SocialGuide Intelligence for their Spanish-language programming. Univision will be using SocialGuide to, "to track and monitor activity for all of its programming," according to the release. The TV programming that drives the most social buzz

Brooklyn-based SocialGuide recently rolled out a new analytics platform, and it just launched a new report within their Social Guide Intelligence (SGI) tool called "Insight" which provides "the most comprehensive look at Twitter TV behavior across US TV (we now cover every program aired across 220 channels)," according to founder Sean Casey. He shared with us the March report, looking across 7.7M uniques, 48.2M comments and 5,364 social TV programs that aired. It broke down which TV program types and genres drive the most social activity.
