To promote Under 550 Calories menu, Applebees gives fans the chance to #BeeFamous

applebees-weight-watchers-menu-500x375In celebration of five years of its Unbelievably Great Tasting & Under 550 Calories Menu, Applebee’s will be giving two fans the chance to be featured in its next national TV commercials. Fans will be able to submit Vines using the #BeeFamous hashtag, and Applebees will select the most creative and original submissions to integrate into the spots. Applebee’s will be airing a commercial during the Golden Globe Awards with a call to action, but submissions have already begun rolling in.

“Applebee’s has millions of fans in social media. If you’re one of them, you know we love to interact,” said Mike Archer, Applebee’s President. “#BeeFamous is about capturing the spirit of that first bite of our Unbelievably Great Tasting & Under 550 Calories Menu items. You won’t believe something that good has so few calories.”

Whereas many brands still use social platforms for one-way messaging, The Applebee’s Reply Squad will actually be commenting on vines, following users, and revineing – their strategy is to be part of the community – not just push out messaging.
