Tweet to Ann Curry helps find woman in Japan

Megan Walsh’s sister arrived in one of the hardest-hit areas of Japan a day before the earthquake. In the aftermath of the tsunami, she was missing. So Walsh jumped on Twitter and asked a number of journalists and news organizations for help.

NBC’s Ann Curry was one of those to receive the tweet. “I will do my best,” Curry tweeted back. With a photo of her missing sister, Canon Purdy, on her phone, Curry searched through survivors until she found her, safe and sound. Here’s the Today Show story…

Walsh’s tweet to Curry says it all, “I LOVE YOU THANK YOU FOR FINDING MY SISTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” It’s one of the few good stories to come out of the tragedy in Japan, where thousands remain missing.
